Academic Year Courses
Learn
Italian in Italy with the opportunity to spend an academic year in
Florence with a course designed to answer the needs of a student's
academic career. Our “Academic Year” course lasts eight
months. There are three start dates in 2008 for the program: Jan. 7th, May 5th, September 1st.
The first four-month period, or semester, is entirely dedicated to the
Italian language and culture. Italian classes are mornings from Monday
through Friday and some afternoons. At the end of the first four-month
period, the students are required to take the CLIDA S2 exam to move forward. At the end of the second semester, after an
appropriate Italian preparatory course, they will be allowed to take
the subsequent exams to obtain the CLIDA standard and/or professional
certificates.

Course AA-C: Italian Language & Culture
This course is designed for those striving towards optimal apprehension
of the Italian language and culture, and most importantly putting these
skills to practice. The program includes:
- 8 G8 Italian language courses (640 hours)
- Italian Culture (60 hours) and Handicraft (60 hours) at Scuola del Cuoio (www.leatherschool.it)
- 4 Italian homestyle cooking classes
- 16 lunch tickets a months (128 lunches) in a restaurant
- 1 pass to all state museums in Florence for the entire school year
- 3 bus passes with 12 trips each
- Organized visits once a week to Italian museums and churches

Course AA-IN: Internship
This program includes a three-month, unpaid internship with a
Florentine company in such fields as Commerce, Tourism, Fashion and
many more.The program includes:
- 5 months of the GL Italian language course (Super-intensive course with lessons morning and afternoon)
- 12 weeks of internship with basic INAIL insurance
- 4 Italian homestyle cooking lessons
- 16 lunch tickets per month (80 lunches total in a restaurant)
- 10 bus passes with 12 trips each
- A pass to all state museums in Florence for the entire school year
- Organized visits once a week to Italian museums and churches

Course AA-A: Applied Arts
Artistic option, which includes a course of Introduction to Fashion or
Design or a course of Applied Arts (Painting, Sculpture, Photography),
in collaboration with the Accademia delle Belle Arti – LABA of
Florence. The program includes:
- 8 Italian language courses G8 (640 hours)
- Conversation and culture courses (40 hours)
- 4 Italian homestyle cooking lessons
- 10 bus passes with 12 trips each
- 16 lunch tickets per month (128 lunches) in a restaurant
- A pass to all state museums in Florence for the entire school year
- Enrollment in a painting, drawing or sculpture course at the LABA Academy (www.laba.biz) for a maximum duration of 4 months during the school year
- Organized visits once a week to museums and churches

Course AA-FD: Fashion Design
This option offers an optimal apprehension of the Italian language
while studying fashion and/or design.The program includes:
- GL Italian language course for 5 months (600 hours)
- 4 Italian homestyle cooking lessons
- 3 bus passes with 12 trips each
- 16 lunch tickets per month (128 lunches) in a restaurant
- A pass to all state museums in Florence for the entire school year
- Enrollment in a fashion or design course (140 hours) for a maximum of three months during the school year
- Organized visits once a week to museums and churches

Course AA-TI: Teaching English to Italians
The AA-TI course concentrates on learning the Italian language to an
intermediate/advanced level, as well as learning techniques for teching
the English language. Students who pass this course will receive the TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Others Languages) Certificate.
Within the English teaching industry, this highly revered certicate is accepted in most parts of the world.
The program includes:
- 5 one-month G8 courses, with 80 hours of Italian language group classes per month
- A one-month TESOL class with Trinity CertTESOL Courses in Florence
- 2 months of internship in Florentine schools or organizations
